Earl of March Chamber Choir

Bonnie Day conducts the Earl of March Chamber Choir which is composed of girls from Grades 9 to 12.  They have sung at the Earl of March Remembrance Day ceremony, at the Mlacak Centre for Councillor Wilkinson and at the Earl of March Music Nights.  Many of the girls in the choir were also involved in the school musical, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and so they have chosen two songs that are taken from musicals to celebrate this interest.  Several of the girls are in grade 12 and will be moving to bigger and better opportunities next year so they look forward to singing together for you as their final group performance.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary they would like to begin with a Canadian song, Allister MacGillivray's Away from the Roll of the Sea.  This lovely Nova Scotian folk song describes the boats in the harbour with the rolling piano accompaniment of the sea gently rocking them played by Jennifer Driediger.  While these boats are in a still and serene harbour now, the song reflects on the adventures and hardships they have endured.  We too need to find our own safe harbour from the challenges of life.
